Extensor digitorum brevis avulsion

There is a bone flake near the anterolateral side of the calcaneum along with local soft tissue swelling. There is no dislocation or bone lesion.

There is an avulsion from the superior lateral side of the calcaneum at the site of extensor digitorum brevis insertion. It associated with local subcutaneous edema. Anterior talofibular ligament, calcaneofibular ligament, and anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament show normal echopattern. There is no effusion in the anterior recess of the ankle joint.
The contralateral side was examined for comparison and shows normal findings.
Case Discussion
The case shows x-ray and ultrasound findings of extensor digitorum brevis avulsion.
