Posterior fibers of the common extensor tendon show hypoechoic echopattern involving near full-thickness with local tendon hypervascularity without a tear.
Anterior fibers of the common extensor tendon show a normal echopattern.
The rest of the elbow examination was normal (images not uploaded).
Case Discussion
Chronic tendon disease is referred to as tendinosis. Hence, the term extensor tendinosis is more proper than lateral epicondylitis. It is the most common tendon pathology of the elbow. Etiology is chronic microtrauma.
