Presentation

Right-hand dorsal side laceration one week ago. Proximal to 3rd MCP.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Small scar proximal to 3rd MCP.

ultrasound

Discontinuity of the 3rd finger extensor tendon. The distal end lies at the skin scar level. The proximal end shows 15 mm retraction with flexed MCP joint. No irregularity of the underlying cortex. No MCP joint effusion.

Surgery revealed 3rd finger extensor tendon tear. Surgical repair was done.

Case Discussion

A young male developed a loss of the middle finger extension after a laceration injury. Ultrasound shows a tear of the extensor tendon which was surgically repaired.
