  • well-defined cystic lesion measuring about 7 x 10 x 12 mm in the subcutaneous plane of lateral margins of the left orbit

  • no evidence of intraorbital extension

  • underlying bone and adjacent lacrimal gland are unremarkable

  • mucosal thickening of bilateral maxillary sinuses and ethmoidal air cells

Case Discussion

Orbital dermoid cyst is the most common type of orbital mass in children. The differential diagnosis includes an epidermoid cyst. Although no fat density is observed, orbital dermoids typically present with a heterogeneous composition of soft tissue, fluid, and fat density, with occasional calcifications.
