Presentation

Post MVR follow up.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Right jugular CVL, mitral valve replacement and external left atrial appendage clip well positioned.

Left lower zone consolidation and bilateral pleural effusions (larger on the left) Cardia mediastinal contour stable. No pneumothorax.

Case Discussion

The metallic AtriClip® closure device is applied externally on the base of the left atrial appendage. This electrically isolates the LAA from the heart thereby reducing the risk of LAA thrombus formation and stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation.
