Extra-truncular congenital vascular malformation of the abdominal wall

The patient had a "birthmark" at the lower right abdominal wall, that had become slightly more prominent during the last few months.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Prominent cutaneous lesion with several blue blebs at the anterolateral lower abdominal wall and iliac crest.

Ultrasound showed tubular and convuluted vascular structures in the subcutaneous tissue.

On MRI, the lesion enhanced faintly and only on delayed images. No av shunting was present.

Case Discussion

Isolated, combined hemolymphatic and venous malformation of the extra-truncular type.
