Extradural hemorrhage

Presentation

Fall from bed. No evidence of head trauma at physical examination.

Gender: Female

NECT:

At posterior fossa, there is an extra-axial biconvex hyperdense collection (60HU) associated with occipital fracture (seen in bone window) suggestive of extradural hemorrhage. 

Mass effect with compression of left cerebelar hemisphere. 

Occipital skull fracture.

Follow up: 

Post-surgery changes in occipital bone. 

None extra-dural collection. 

Case Discussion

An uncommon site of traumatic extradural hemorrhage (at the posterior fossa).

Patient was inmediately taken to surgery room in order to decompress.
