Extraskeletal chondroma - ulnar wrist

Presentation

Palpable and visible mass in the ulnar wrist, that had been present for years, and had now become increasingly painful.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male

Soft-tissue mass between the triquetrum and the base of the Vth metacarpal with bony erosions.

Note the rings and arcs pattern on the T2-weighted image, suggestive of a chondral lesion.

Open excisional biopsy revealed a benign, extraskeletal chondroma.
