Presentation

Recurrent right lower abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

CASE OF THE MONTH: This case was selected as the Case of the Month for August 2023.

A sausage-shaped tubular cystic lesion is seen in right adnexa. It is hyperintense on T2 and hypointense on T1, suggesting of right hydrosalpinx. There is a solid intraluminal mass within the proximal dilated right fallopian tube, measuring upto 35 x 20 mm, which shows mild contrast enhancement on the post contrast images.

Case Discussion

Laparoscopic salpingectomy was done.

Pathology result: Fallopian tube papillary serous adenocarcinoma, high grade.

Papillary serous adenocarcinomas is the most common type of fallopian tube cancers, graded as low-grade serous carcinoma or high-grade serous carcinoma.
