Familial hyperlipidemia screened for premature coronary artery disease.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Premature coronary artery disease in the form of a soft plaque at the origin of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) without a significant stenosis. Premature atherosclerotic calcifications are also demonstrated in the aortic root or sinus of Valsalva.

Case Discussion

Cardiac coronary CT was performed with a prospective protocol as the patient is young to decrease the radiation. Premature coronary artery disease in the form of a soft plaque at the origin of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) without significant stenosis. Premature atherosclerotic calcifications are also demonstrated in the aortic root or sinus of Valsalva.
