Ultrasound

Right upper quadrant view: no free fluid is present, echotexture of liver and kidney grossly normal.

Subcostal four chamber view: no pericardial effusion, contractility grossly normal.

Case Discussion

Normal study for reference.

Of note, this study was technically limited; in a complete study the right and left upper quadrant views would extend further cephalad to look for a pleural or subphrenic collection. Additionally, the preferred pelvic view is transverse, as it is thought to provide a more complete sonographic window of the rectovesical/rectouterine space.
