Fat necrosis left breast

A 50 year old patient with previous breast reduction surgery. She gets a new family doctor who discovers a mass in her left breast.

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Female
Modality: Mammography

Common or garden fat necrosis. Typical calcification with lucent centres.

Not the BB on the breast relative to the palpable mass.

Modality: Ultrasound

Ultrasound shows poorly defined areas of low level echoes.

Case Discussion

Typical fat necrosis on mammogram.

No further intervention is required. Birads II.
