Femoral inter-trochanteric fracture - displaced

85 year old patient with recent history of a fall

Patient Data

Age: 85
Gender: Male

A complete oblique fracture line is seen involving the proximal femur in the inter-trochanteric region with a gap between the fracture ends of about 1.6 cm and supero-lateral displacement of the distal femoral shaft. Few millimetric bone fragments are seen in-between the fractured ends as well.

No other fracture lines detected.

Case Discussion

Left femoral inter-trochanteric complete completely displaced fracture. (Garden stage IV).
