Presentation
Limping, pain and reduced motion of the left hip
Patient Data
Shortened left leg due to displacement of the femoral head superiorly and severe degenerative changes of the hip joint. The femoral head and neck have lost their normal anatomical configuration and morphology due to callus formation.
Left greater trochanter is several centimeters higher when compared to the contralateral side.
Case Discussion
History of trauma to the left hip several years ago. The patient did not present for medical attention.
Now he has intense hip pain, reduced motion and limping.
The most probable cause of his problems is an old femoral neck fracture left untreated, which produced hip joint incongruence and consequently severe degenerative changes.
