Femoral neck stress fracture

Runner. 3 weeks of anterolateral hip pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Female

Mild-moderate volume joint effusion. High grade marrow oedema is shown in the femoral neck medially extending to the subtrochanteric region.  Centred within the marrow oedema there is linear low signal consistent with an established stress fracture. There is mild subperiosteal fluid at this site.
