Femoral neck stress fracture

Presentation

Runner. 3 weeks of anterolateral hip pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
mri

Mild to moderate volume of joint effusion. High-grade marrow edema is shown in the femoral neck medially extending to the subtrochanteric region.

Centered within the marrow edema there is linear low signal consistent with an established stress fracture. There is mild subperiosteal fluid at this site.
