Case Discussion

Fetal umbilical vein aneurysm (also termed as umbilical vein varix) is an uncommon anomaly that accounts for approximately 4% of the umbilical cord abnormalities.

It is often associated with other congenital anomalies including cardiac anomalies and Down syndrome. Once this anomaly has been identified, a careful search for other fetal anomalies must be carried out. Amniocentesis could be offered to the patient.
