Linear hyperechoic-hypoechoic lines are due to opposed wall of the oesophagus. The thoracic oesophagus is seen up to the gastro-oesophageal junction.
Case Discussion
Static images show fetal thoracic collapsed oesophagus in a retrocardiac location. In long axis, it is seen as linear echogenic-hypoechoic lines.
During normal peristalsis (dynamic scan) the oesophagus is distended with fluid (not shown).
