Linear hyperechoic-hypoechoic lines are due to opposed wall of the esophagus. The thoracic esophagus is seen up to the gastro-esophageal junction.
Case Discussion
Static images show fetal thoracic collapsed esophagus in a retrocardiac location. In long axis, it is seen as linear echogenic-hypoechoic lines.
During normal peristalsis (dynamic scan) the esophagus is distended with fluid (not shown).
