Fetal origin of posterior cerebral artery

Age: 27
Gender: Male

The posterior cerebral artery (PCA) arises directly from internal carotid artery (ICA) on right side. The right P1 segment is hypoplastic. 

Case Discussion

Fetal PCOM are common incidental findings. Their importance is predominantly in the setting of vascular intervention (e.g. coiling of a PCOM aneurysm) or in the setting of stroke.
