Newborn presented with right-side neck swelling and torticollis.
Patient Data
The right sternocleidomastoid muscle demonstrates fusiform enlargement measuring about 2.1 x 3.1 x 1.6 cm with internal vascularity with no evidence of focal mass lesion. Radiological features suggest fibromatosis colli.
The left sternocleidomastoid muscle appears unremarkable
Case Discussion
Torticollis can be classified as congenital and acquired. Congenital muscular torticollis is classified into three categories according to severity (postural, muscular, and sternocleidomastoid mass (also called fibromatosis colli))
And those causes should be differentiated from acquired torticollis which develops postnatally secondary to trauma, infection, tumors, neurogenic, ocular, and other miscellaneous causes.
