Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) of internal carotid arteries

TIA like episodes - left leg paresthesia and weakness, short episode. Carotid doppler showed no significant stenosis but high velocities.

Gender: Female

CT angiogram of carotid arteries


Tortuous ectatic appearance to both extracranial internal carotid arteries.

Appearances are consistent with fibromuscular dysplasia.
