Fibrous dysplasia

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Headache; routine assesment.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
ct

Bony expansion, some cortical destruction of right squamous temporal bone, with groundglass matrix, and no soft tissue component.

mri

The region of ground glass matrix on CT appears as heterogeneous enlarged bone. It exerts some mass effect upon the adjacent cerebral cortex, however no edema.

Case Discussion

Based on the fibro-osseous ground glass matrix, and CT/MR morphology, the lesion has been presumed to be fibrous Dysplasia. The patient remains stable, and thus no intervention has been planned.
