Case contributed by Dr Sepehr Haghighi

Gradual swelling of right forearm since 1 year old referred for evaluation of any mass lesion

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male

An ill-defined fat-containing soft tissue mass with intersecting fibrous bands is noted in right forearm which has heterogeneous fibrous tissue enhancement after contrast administration. The mass does not involve underlying muscles or bone.

Case Discussion

Fibrous hamartoma of infancy is a rare benign subcutaneous tissue tumoral lesion which is seen more than 90% in the first year of life. The precise incidence of disease is unknown and the male:female ratio is 2:1 1.

The presence of a fat-containing soft tissue mass with intersecting fibrous bundles in this age group, indicates fibrous hamartoma of infancy.
