Presentation

History of trauma to the right-hand yesterday at home- hit by a hard object. On examination: swelling and tenderness noted to the right hand over the 4-5 metacarpals

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Fracture at the base of right 5th metacarpal bone. 
Incidentally: lunotriquetral coalition ( congenital disorder)
A persistent ulnar styloid ossicle ( congenital disorder)

Case Discussion

Lunotriquetral coalition may cause wrist pain.

This is a simple fracture. The treatment was Ethyl chloride spray, bandage, and a splint applied.
