Ultrasound of the scrotum shows dilated lymphatic channels with moving linear microfilaria within showing the characteristic filarial dance.
Case Discussion
This ultrasound appearance has been described as 'filarial dance' and has been described as a specific finding in microfilariasis.
Some authors have described a similar finding in other causes of obstruction of spermatic flow and have doubted the specificity of this finding.
