Presentation
Index finger trauma with pain and swelling.
Patient Data
Separation between the flexor tendon and the proximal phalanx of the index finger with edema signal is present between them. Consistent with A2 pully rupture of the index finger.
Swelling and abnormal signal of the collateral ligaments of the proximal inter-phalangeal joint, impressive of collateral ligaments sprain.
Separation between the flexor tendon and the proximal phalanx of the index finger with edema signal is present between them. Consistent with A2 pully rupture of the index finger (Yellow arrow).
Axial images reveal torn pullys (Chevrons) with wide separation of the flexor tendon and the proximal phalanx with fluid-filled distance.
Case Discussion
Finger pulley injury can occur at any one of the five flexor tendon pulleys of the fingers, but most commonly affects the A2 pulley.
