Fracture line is present at the plantar aspect of the first metatarsal base associated with focal bone marrow edema and a T1 hypointense fracture line.
Bone marrow edema also is seen at the hindfoot, midfoot and base of the metatarsal bones.
Case Discussion
First metatarsal fractures result from a variety of low and high energy mechanisms and deserves careful evaluation.
