Focal adenomyosis

Irregular periods and dysmenorrhea.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

The MR sequences demonstrate an enlarged uterus with focal thickening of the endometrium-myometrium junctional zone at the anterior fundal/corporeal region (thickness=40 mm), seen as an ill-defined area with multiple tiny foci of high T2 changes abnormality indicative of cystic changes.

This is indenting and displacing the endometrial cavity posteriorly. 

Normal cervix.

Nabothian cyst measuring about 7mm in cervix region.

No pelvic lymphadenopathy.

Case Discussion

MRI of features of focal adenomyosis. The main differential diagnosis is uterine leiomyoma.
