The MRI demonstrate:
- focal thickening of the endometrial-myometrial junctional zone (thickness = 16 mm) of anterior corporeal location in keeping with a focal adenomyosis
- small nodular mass in the left rectus abdominis muscle measuring 20 x 16 x 12 mm, isointense to the muscle on both T1 and T2 with minimal enhancement, containing foci of high signal most likely in keeping with an ectopic endometrial tissue
Case Discussion
The MRI features are most consistent with focal adenomyosis with scar endometriosis within the rectus abdominis muscle.
