Refractory epilepsy

Patient Data

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male

There is an abnormal T2/FLAIR hyperintense signal/lesion involving the inferior and anterior aspects of left frontal lobe, mesial temporal lobe and insula extending from cortex towards the ventricle with blurring of gray matter-WM junction, cortical thickening & abnormal sulcal & gyral pattern. This lesion is suggestive of focal cortical dysplasia (FCD type 2).

The left basal ganglia structures appear bulky and show a subtle increased signal compared to the right ones.
