Diffuse multilevel T1 and T2 high signal foci demonstrated in the vertebral bodies and suppressed on STIR sequence; hence indicative of foci of fatty replacement.
Schmorl's nodes at the inferior endplates of L3 and L4.
Varying levels of degenerative disc desiccation and reduction in height especially L3-4 and L4-5 discs.
Multilevel mild diffuse disc bulges indenting the thecal sac.
Case Discussion
Focal fatty replacement of hematopoietic bone marrow appears to be a common phenomenon. STIR sequence of MRI is very useful in correlating this finding.
