Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH)

The MRI sequences demonstrate two well-defined lesions in segments II and IVb, slightly hypointense on T1WI, slightly hyperintense on T2WI. On postcontrast, both lesions show an intense, and homogeneous early enhancement on arterial phase, and become isointense to liver on portal venous phase.
Case Discussion
MRI features suggestive of two focal nodular hyperplasia.
On imaging the differential diagnosis may include:
- multifocal HCC: a true fibrotic capsule is seen in up to 80% of cases
- multiple hepatic adenomas: the majority of them contain fat with signal drop out on out-of-phase imaging
