In the interpolar region of the right kidney is an ovoid heterogeneous avascular mass. With the features of sepsis and infection, features here are most in keeping with focal pyelonephritis.
Case Discussion
Features of focal pyelonephritis. There is no collection, so this is not an abscess.
While other differentials may be considered, the presentation with sepsis and appropriate urinalysis makes infection the most likely diagnosis. Complete resolution at 6 months was confirmed on ultrasound.
