Case Discussion

Chronic spinal deformities that occur with scoliosis may have a congenital (segmentation abnormalities, connective tissue disorders, skeletal dysplasias) or acquired origin, and possible differential diagnoses must be considered, such as: neuromuscular (Chiari malformations, muscular dystrophies, syringomyelia, spinal dysraphism),  tumor (osteoblastoma, metastases, neurofibroma) and infectious (pyogenic osteomyelitis, tuberculous spondylitis) causes.
