Presentation

Routine third trimester ultrasound scan. Second trimester anomaly scan was normal.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Ventricular disproportion.

Right atrial enlargement.

Foramen flap filling more than fifty percent of the left atrium.

Decreased left ventricular inflow on color Doppler.

Case Discussion

Foramen ovale aneurysm also known as atrial septal aneurysm refers to an abnormal protrusion of the interatrial septum resulting in decreased left atrial volume. On color Doppler, there is reduced left ventricular inflow. It is often an isolated finding. In this case, no other fetal anomaly was seen.
