Non-healing wound involving the right medial ankle region - 2 months.
Patient Data
Two adjacent wounds are inferior and posterior to the medial malleolus.
A linear echogenic focus (about 22 mm) in the soft tissue under the wound. Its proximal end is closer to the skin. The distal end passes deep to a muscle. It lies superficial to the medial ankle neurovascular bundle. Local soft tissue thickening with hypervascularity.
Skin marking to over the foreign body.
Surgery revealed a thorn under the skin marked site. It was removed.
Case Discussion
An elderly male presented with a non-healing wound in the medial ankle region. The ultrasound shows a foreign body that was surgically retrieved.
