Presentation
Left ankle twisting injury since 6 weeks, with chronic foot pain.
Patient Data
A linear opaque foreign body is seen in the plantar soft tissues of the midfoot opposite the second metatarsal bone.
Case Discussion
An example of a radio-opaque foreign body in the foot. The sole of the foot is of course the most common site for insertion of foreign bodies in the foot. Sometimes the patient may not be aware of the presence of a foreign body or its site of insertion in trauma. Retained foreign bodies can also present with complications like abscess formation. On the other hand, not all foreign bodies will be seen on radiographs.
