Foreign body: hand

History of penetrating injury to dorsum of hand by thorn a month ago. Complaining of persistent pain and swelling. Normal radiograph.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years old
Gender: Male

There are at least two linear echogenic structures on dorsal aspect of metacarpophalangeal joint. One is intra-articular; measuring 3 mm. The other is deep to ulnar side of sagittal band; measuring 2 mm. There is erosion of proximal phalanx base on dorsal aspect. There is effusion with tiny echoes as well as synovitis involving metacarpophalangeal joint.

Flexor and extensor tendons are intact. There is no flexor tenosynovitis.
