There is a radio-opaque cylindrical (max 2.8 x 9 mm) foreign body projecting over the midline pelvis, in the expected region of the urinary bladder. There also appears to be a relatively radiolucent tubular structure extending inferolaterally rightward from the radio-opaque foreign body, which may represent catheter tubing.
Case Discussion
The patient underwent cytoscopy and removal of the foreign body. The bladder was large with moderate trabeculation and few diverticulae. A 5 cm catheter with metal round tip and straight edge was successfully retrieved.
The patient continues to intermittently self-catheterize.
