There is a linear echogenic focus in the region of interest representing a foreign body. It is located on the medial side of the midfoot plantar region soft tissue. The foreign body is aligned perpendicular to the long axis of the foot. Its superficial end is just deep to the skin. The deeper end of the foreign body is in the muscle and is about 10 mm deep to the skin. The foreign body measures about 18 mm in length. There is acoustic shadowing due to the foreign body. There is no surrounding granuloma/abscess formation.

Case Discussion

The case shows a soft tissue foreign body (thorn) in the plantar foot region without associated granuloma/abscess/tenosynovitis. Although an artifact, acoustic shadowing helps to localize a foreign body.
