Case contributed by Dr Maulik S Patel

Thorn injury - 1 day before. USG for localization

Patient Data

Age: 10 -12 yrs
Gender: Female

At point of entry wound - Foreign body ( thron ) is most  superficial to skin.

Deep end of FB is abutting tendon. It is about 7 mm from skin.

No foreign body granuloma is noted.

After 1st US, patient was operated about 18 hrs later. Marking was done on skin surface to guide incision. But foreign body could not be localized. After few hrs patient was sent back for FB localization with a thoght that it has migrated because patient continued walking after 1st Ultrasound. After 1st surgery, she was denied for walking.

FB was there but deeper and more proximally. Its deeper end is 13 mm from skin.

It now lies in muscle.

This time , it was found during surgery and removed.
