Presentation

Glass injury to pulp of finger. Patient was an anesthesiologist who tried to open a drug ampoule.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Radio-opaque foreign body in the pulp of the index finger. 

ultrasound

Tiny echogenic particle is seen in pulp of finger, with reactive hyperemia (inflammation).

Case Discussion

Glass particle removed surgically. Although ultrasound revealed hypervascularity with hypoechoic areas around the foreign body, no pus was present on exploration.
