Foreign body (vibrator with its motor and batteries) inside the rectosigmoid colon. No bowel obstruction or perforation sign. Digital removal of the object was unsuccessful. Under conscious sedation removed endoscopically using a pneumatic dilatation balloon normally used in patients with achalasia. He regained bowel activity and resumed oral intake within 24 hours.

Case Discussion

Colorectal foreign bodies may cause intestinal obstruction, perforation, rectal fistula, perianal abscesses, anal stenosis or encopresis. Laparotomy is usually reserved for failed nonoperative managements or bowel perforation.
