Foreign body in situ

Case contributed by Dr Ian Bickle

This 30 year-old male laborer fell from a height onto a piece of wood. The patient, with the help of his colleague, cut short the plank of wood himself whilst in situ to enable transportation to hospital.

Case Discussion

The safest thing to do in this situation is to leave everything in situ and allow removal in a controlled hospital environment.
