Foreign body induced synovitis of metacarpo-phalangeal joint

Thorn injury to dorsal aspect of 3rd metacarpo-phalangeal joint region - about 2 wk.

Patient Data

Age: about 55 yrs
Gender: Male

There is a linear echogenic focus ( 2  mm length ) in metacarpo-phalangeal joint on dorsal side.

It abuts metacarpal head.

There is synovial thickening with hypervascularity involving joint in palmer as well as dorsal recess.

There is no tendinosis/tenosynovitis.

Case Discussion

There are findings of a foreign body ( thorn ) in 3rd metacarpo-phalangeal joint causing synovitis.
