Foreign body induced tenosynovitis of tibialis anterior

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

C/o penetrating injury by thorn to anterior ankle - 1 mth. C/o local pain and swelling.

Patient Data

Age: about 40 yrs.
Gender: Male

5 mm long x 1 mm thick echogenic linear focus is noted embedded in thickened synovium of intact tibialis anterior tendon sheath. Mild fluid is noted in sheath. Local hypervascularity is noted.

Case Discussion

Findings favor tibialis anterior tenosynovitis due to foreign body  - thorn.

Removed surgically.
