A well-defined linear echogenic focus (3.7 mm length) in the volar thumb region. It is superficial to the flexor tendon insertion. A hypoechoic thin rim around it favors granulation. No underlying cortex erosion. No interphalangeal joint effusion.
Case Discussion
A boy presented with a 5-year-old history of ballpen tip injury to the thumb volar region. He complained of palpable nodule locally without pain. The ultrasound shows a foreign body that was surgically retrieved.
