Presentation

Painful deformity to the dorsal aspect of the left foot after falling down stairs landing on the left ankle.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

There is a comminuted, intra-articular displaced fracture involving the navicular of the midfoot. There is a significantly displaced fragment over the dorsal aspect.

A comminuted and dislocated fracture of the navicular bone is demonstrated, with severe displacement of the dorsal fragment. There is a hematoma in the region of interest. There are further fractures through the inferomedial portion of the medial cuneiform, plantar aspect of the intermediate cuneiform

Case Discussion

Plain radiographs and CT show a midtarsal injury with a comminuted and dislocated navicular bone, precisely a Chopart fracture-dislocation.
