Presentation

A dynamic hip screw inserted 6 months ago for a neck of femur fracture. Further fall and unable to weight bear.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female

Fractured dynamic hip screw plate with the fracture extending through the proximal femur.  Heterotropic ossification surrounds the prior fracture site.

Case Discussion

Radiographs are appropriate first radiological investigations in those who cannot weight bear, with further imaging necessary if no displaced fracture is evident, or the surgeons would like cross-sectional imaging due to fracture complexity.
